Numb by Portishead, a trip hop band from the US.

If you could trade lives with somebody for a day, who would you choose and why?
It’d be Kathleen Hanna. She’s a singer from a feminist punk band in the 1980s. She’s pretty badass, she writes and was the the one who came up with the whole feminist punk riot movement.

Biggest fear in life:
Losing my teeth! (laughs) I always have nightmares about losing my teeth so I’d wake up to check if they’re gone. There’re also failures and obstacles but that’s part of life. Dental care is expensive in Singapore and if you lose your teeth, you’ll have to pay for veneers which is expensive!

Three people that have inspired me in life:
Maya Angelou, Angela Davis, and Anaïs Nin. Maya Angelou and Angela Davis both fought for freedom and for revolution for women back in the early days. They’re big writers as well. Anaïs Nin was a writer and she liberated women’s sexuality. Pop culture didn’t start in two days and what really moved me is when you’re able to write provocatively and shock people with words. They’ve inspired my writing.

If I had a million dollars, I would…
Buy a lot of records and all the most expensive books I can get to have a huge a library that I’m proud of. I don’t think that’ll cost a lot though. I’ve also always wanted to open up my own non-profit organization for girls who have gone through abuse and violence, and also give more girls a platform for education. I’d also want to travel and buy a small apartment.
