Hidden Treasure
The thing we are most surprised to learn about Florence’s outfit is that both her top and pants are from Giordano, a label that we have perhaps mistakenly assumed to only sell basic, run-of-the-mill t-shirts, chinos, and jeans. Florence certainly proves us wrong, and has us thinking about revisiting the store sometime soon. Although her outfit is in plain black and white, the structure of her top and pants adds interest to her look, while her chunky-heeled slip-ons and minimal accessories finish off the ensemble with a little twist. “My wardrobe consists of mostly solid colours,” she says. “I love Danish stuff, and Scandinavian style, which I was exposed to when I went on exchange. I would describe my style as clean and simple, with a difference.” There’s a different side to Florence, however; she has a weakness for cute things, like the little glow-in-the-dark ghost keychain she’s attached to her wallet. Florence grew up in Australia, and worked around Asia before coming to Singapore, where she’s only been for six weeks. “I’m still trying to balance out my life and work,” she says. “My sleeping patterns are still messed up. I’m still waking up in the middle of the night!” When it comes to a work-life balance, Florence finds joy in both relaxation and pleasure, and sums up her motto as “ohm and nom, plus the occasional paperback.”
