We spotted Preet and her family while they were taking a leisurely stroll through the heart of the CBD; this stylish family was hard to miss. Preet’s oversized sun hat caught our attention, adding some practical sophistication to her shorts, sandals, and casual navy blue top — the perfect outfit for a busy mother that still manages to look well-put-together. Navy is her favourite colour of the moment, she says. “I personally feel that the colour is sophisticated, and can be dressed up or down for all occasions.” We love how the hat adds an air of mystery — perhaps a subconscious reflection of Preet’s love for the Bond movies — and she looks effortlessly chic and comfortable in her get-up. Originally from Melbourne, Preet and her family moved to Singapore in 2011, and she says that she misses her mum’s cooking, the cool Australian weather, and her car. “Public transport can get tough with a stroller and two young kids.” Being a homemaker, Preet finds practical clothes to be important as she has to be physically active when it comes to getting around and handling her children. Prior to being a mother, Preet was a physiotherapist, and while at work, she realised that having a good mentor plays a big part in the learning process. “I only found one a few years into my working life, and I wish I had met her sooner.” Nowadays, her only focus is her family, and she looks forward to spending the weekends enjoying a meal with them, especially when her husband is free from work commitments. “We really enjoy brunch at Singapore’s different cafes and restaurants as there is always something new to try,” she says. “‘You are what you eat’ is my mantra of the moment.”
