New Beginnings

“What’s good to eat around here?” was one of the first things James said to us. We met James as he was out for lunch with his girlfriend: eyes twinkling, arms linked, and chatting excitedly, their enthusiasm was contagious. Originally from London, James has just been transferred here on business — in fact, it was only his fifth day in Singapore when we spoke to him. James works in marketing, an industry he’s happy to be in as he enjoys interacting and working with clients. Although being here means he’ll be away from his family and friends, James seems pretty excited about his prospects. His new team may be smaller, but he appreciates the mixture of both local and international team members, and believes that Singapore has more opportunities for growth. The one thing James thinks he would take some getting used to, however, is the weather. Still, that isn’t stopping him from dressing well; we like how James pairs a deep blue shirt with orange pants, choosing deeper, muted hues that complement instead of clash with each other. We also noticed James’ Apple Watch, which prompted us to ask whether he was a fan of new technology. “I’m just your average tech junkie,” he laughs. “More of an early adopter.”
