No Regrets

When it comes to shopping for work, Anisa favours asymmetrical, unique designs and softer colours — plus points if it’s ethically-made as well. She seemed both surprised and excited when we approached her. “This is so cool, my daughter will freak out when she finds out!” Originally from Indonesia, Anisa made the move here several years ago because of her husband’s job. She has since been working in a restaurant, in an industry that’s worlds apart from her previous occupation in finance. “I used to deal directly with the stock market,” Anisa shares. “It was exciting and I would love to do it again, but in Singapore it’s hard to find a good opportunity.” Her dream, however, is to become a food taster, going around the world. “I love to travel, and I love food and drinks. Especially drinks!” Anissa laughs. It turns out that Anisa is quite the family person, devoting her weekends entirely to quality time with her loved ones and even tattoo-ing their names around her ankle. To her 18-year-old daughter, Anisa’s constant advice is to “be who you are without regrets”; her personal motto, derived from her life experiences, is slightly different, and can be summed up in just three words: “Seize the day.”
