As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a marine biologist since young, because I grew up obsessed with blue whales. But what the nine-year-old Emily obviously didn’t know was that there’s so much more to biology besides just learning about whales.

What’s one song that’s been recently on your mind?
Moon by Kid Francescoli. I picked it up while watching Emily in Paris on Netflix and I really love it—and this is coming from an Emily in Singapore.

If you had the chance to relive one day of your life, which would it be?
The day I stepped out of the airport in San Diego, California, where I went for exchange. I’ll never forget that feeling of excitement and anxiety all at the same time.

What’s a constant worry that you usually have in your mind?
Having undone work—it’s a pet peeve of mine.

If you could live in one person’s shoes for just 24 hours, who would you choose?
An empress from the Tang Dynasty! I’m very interested in the history of the Imperial Harem of China, thanks to all the dramas I’ve watched.
