You’re a tailor—tell us more about how you got into it.
It started two years ago. We started off mobile, going everywhere with a hand-carry, but we realised we couldn’t keep doing that, so we opened up a space at Keong Saik Road.
What’s the best part about being a tailor?
I get to dress up everyday. I like dressing up because it’s fun to me. I’m a big fan of Alex Turner from Arctic Monkeys, and I’d say he and Johnny Depp inspire me in terms of style.
If you were a material:
Hopsack. It’s an open weave fabric, which can seem rough and rugged, but overall it can also be very elegant.
Do you have any dressing tips for working adults?
We generally get guys to wear their pants higher on the waist. We try to follow the golden ratio, where the legs comprise 61.8% of the total body height, but Asians tend to appear shorter because our proportions are closer to 50/50, so high-waisted pants help create the illusion of being taller.
If you could be a colour in a crayon box, what would you be?
I’d say black. I like black a lot, because it usually makes everything else stand out.
If there was a theme song that played whenever you entered a room, what would it be?
Arabella by the Arctic Monkeys.
