We had already established that Pauline has a talent for scoring vintage dresses when we last met her. So it’s no surprise that the belted floral number she had on this time was yet another treasured find, this time from Bangkok. We love the oversized lapels and sleeves as they accentuate her petite frame without overwhelming her. Her maroon shoes too, were a perfect choice with their retro square-toes and gold-accent heel. Since we last spoke, Pauline’s passion for flowers has developed into a full-blown obsession and she calls herself an “aspiring fleurapist”. What? “It’s a self-concocted word between fleur (French for flowers) and therapy,” she explained. Hard-pressed to name one favourite flower, she instead cites a few: fressias (“for their scent”), ranunculus (“because they always look perfect”), chrysanthemums (“because they work the hardest — so many varieties and you can treat them like crap but still they’ll be true to you and last forever”) and hellebores (“they are like Natalie Portman; a touch of class plus character”). Pauline’s dream? To someday own a flower farm in Sri Lanka.
