Introduce yourself and what you’ve been up to lately.
Hello! I’m Jai, I’m 19, and I study Digital Design at Republic Polytechnic. I’m graduating in a few months, but I have an internship coming up before that.
I’m on holiday now though, so today I came to visit the Pompompurin Café!
We’re guessing Pompompurin is your favourite character. What do you like about him?
He’s good at sleeping, and he’s just a chill guy.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I do a bit of both knitting and crocheting. I also like drawing, painting, running, swimming, and lifting stuff.
This year, I also wanted to make a bunch of clothes, by sewing them and stuff. Just my own things that I can wear. I’ve managed to do a lot of the things that I wanted to do this year, so 2026 has been good stuff!
What are your plans after graduating?
I’m going straight to the army. I’ll probably do admin work because I’ve dislocated both my shoulders.
After the army, I’ll probably go to university, maybe in Singapore, depending on how good my GPA gets. I don’t have a particular school in mind yet.
When we approached you, you mentioned something about “failure therapy”. Tell us more about that.
I’ve been wearing this [points to Pompompurin hat] around as a sort of humiliation ritual. I’ve been thinking about failure therapy, where you go around and try to purposely get rejected. Then you’ll realise, “What! It’s all in your mind!” Mental fortitude, gang!
