Introduce yourself and tell us about what you do!
I’m Wendy! I’m a trainer and public speaker in the financial industry. I’ve been in the financial industry for about 20 years now! I initially started out in sales and rotated through different departments, while training and public speaking came in over the past 10 years.

What do you enjoy most about public speaking?
I enjoy the talking a lot, although it can definitely get tiring at times!

There are quite a lot of memorable moments, but my favourites are when I know that the people who attended my talks or workshops benefited from them. They’ll give me good testimonials and tell me how I’ve helped them with their sales, their lives, or their career choices. I work a lot with young people, so people like you guys!

Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
Unfortunately…is shopping considered a hobby? (laughs) Shopping and travelling! I typically like going to Japan and Taiwan, and I like shopping for clothes, bags, and shoes.

I don’t want to chase brands, so I don’t really have any favourites. But sometimes, in my position as a trainer, the packaging matters. You caught me on a day when I’m a bit more dressed up because we had a photoshoot this morning!

We noticed everything from your hair to your nails is pink today. Is pink your favourite colour?
Yes! Coincidentally, my nails, hair, everything about me is pink today.

After 20 years in the industry, what’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone younger?
I have quite a few, but I typically tell my people: one life, one chance. Do what you want to do. Forget about norms, don’t go with conventions, just explore and grab opportunities. I’m really in support of whatever you guys are doing, and thank you for giving me this opportunity too!
