Building Blocks

Colour blocking is no stranger to most: a classic method of putting different colours in one outfit together, it is one sure-fire way of standing out in the crowd. If you aren’t sure how to go about it, however, let your clothes do the work for you. Of late, we’ve been seeing garments that come with striking, in-built panels in a variety of colours, strategically placed to accentuate or slim the silhouette. They can break up the monotony of a simple white shirt, keep a bold printed dress from looking overwhelming, or smooth over any perceived flaws. Black side panels, for example, are exceptionally forgiving and highlight your curves in all the right places, while lighter shades of nudes and blues offer a softer, feminine touch. Pair your panels with other pieces in complimentary colours, keep the accessories to a minimal, and let the eye be drawn in.
