Colouring In The Lines

From looking like you’re in pyjamas, to worse—a prison uniform—there seems to be no lack of opinions on stripes. What is certain is that by drawing the eye in a vertical direction, stripes make you look taller and slimmer, whether you’re wearing them on a top, a pair of pants, or full-on on a dress. While monochrome stripes are a classic, there’s much room for experimentation with colour—candy stripes give off a fresh, fun look, while multicoloured stripes, which have been becoming more common, put all your favourite shades together in one look. With a simple but strong print taking up a large part of your outfit, tone down by opting for accessories in solid colours—either in a colour that’s similar to those in the stripes, or in pastels to gently contrast a loud pattern.
