Introduce yourself and what you’ve been up to lately!
Hello, I’m Isaac! I’m from Virginia in the United States, but I’m currently in Singapore working as a musician onboard the Disney Adventure cruise ship. I play the piano and sing, and I’ll be here until September.

When we dock in Singapore, I’m usually onshore just for the morning and afternoon, then I’ll head back in the evening and we’ll take off again. We sail out to the East China Sea, make a circle, and then come back to Singapore.

Is this your first time in Singapore? How are you finding it so far?
Yes! It’s a beautiful city. It’s incredible to find a city this populated with so much greenery everywhere, and the architecture is amazing.

It’s also nowhere near as hot where I’m from. We have four pretty distinct seasons in Virginia, and it doesn’t get this humid. But I’m enjoying it!

How did you get into music?
I’ve been playing the piano since I was eight years old, so about 15 years now. This is my first real professional performing musician job, so it’s been a very exciting time. I did not imagine travelling halfway around the world!

I’m enjoying it. I love playing music and I love singing, and I’m currently in a role that lets me do both at the same time with some incredibly talented people on a very professional cruise line.

What’s it like working onboard the ship?
There are people from all over. I’m playing with a bassist who’s from Singapore, while some of the other musicians are from the Philippines, India, and China. That goes for the entire ship too; I’ve met people from all over the world.

We’re never docked overnight, though. We dock in Singapore in the morning and leave at night twice a week, so I don’t really have the time to travel outside of Singapore. I could probably make it to the Malaysian border and back if I tried really hard!

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not playing music?
I love the outdoors and I love hiking. I’ve walked through a bit of the rainforests here and seen some monkeys and trees that I’ve never seen before, so I’ve gotten a taste of it.
