What’s a common misconception people have about your line of work?
People think HR staff don’t do much other than team-building and organising people, and that we have a very relaxing job. But having to deal with people is much harder than working with words and numbers, because you have to be sensitive to people’s thoughts and feelings.
What’s a skill you’d like to have?
I’d like to learn to dive. I think it’ll be interesting to experience the underwater world and see marine life up close. I’d probably go to Bali to dive, somewhere not too far from Singapore.
Most memorable trip you’ve had:
I went to Cambodia for a work-related trip. I’m in airline catering, and I was there to observe the kitchen operations for our unit in Cambodia. I had the chance to be on the air field to witness the pre-preparations before take-off, so that was quite a memorable experience.
If you could trade lives with anyone for one day, who would you choose and why?
Any Hollywood celebrity, because I’d want to experience what it’s like to live like them. I don’t really have one celebrity in mind whose life I’d want, but my favourite male star is probably Johnny Depp.
If you could have an unlimited supply of one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Wishes that come true, because that basically gives you an unlimited supply of anything that you wish for! Then again, they always say that you should be careful what you wish for. (laughs)
What are your comfort foods?
Instant noodles. It’s the most unhealthy and fattening junk food, but it never fails to make me feel better whenever I’m stressed, hungry or just want something to munch on, because the soup is always so flavourful.
