I work as a strategist in advertising.
I’m originally from Armenia, and I’ve been in Singapore for seven years. Back home we have four seasons, but the weather here affects your fashion sense—I used to wear a lot of layers, like scarves, but here I’m limited to one layer.

Share with us something people don’t really know about you:
I just finished putting together my DJ mix the day before we met. (laughs) My taste in music is diverse so I drew on different themes, but it wasn’t inspired by any one thing in particular.

Tell us about your tattoo.
It’s a picture of a pomegranate. I got it because of a movie, The Colour of Pomegranates. I like it but I don’t know if I would recommend it to others because it’s a very old movie; it was made in the 1960s.

A random fact you’ve recently learnt:
The word hentai actually means queer or strange. It used to have LGBT connotations but the porn industry took over the use of the word. I found out about this while doing research on LGBT communities in Japan, and now a lot of manga are reclaiming the use of the term.

Guilty pleasures:
Watching crime dramas on Netflix. They all look the same, and after a while I start confusing the plots with one another, but I like binge-watching crime shows.

If you could live in a movie, what would it be and why?
Suspiria. It’s a horror movie, but the set design of it is so beautiful that I want to live in that world.
