New Girl

I’ve been here for six months, but I’ve visited Singapore over 20 times.
I’m from Australia but Singapore is like a second home. I like the juxtaposition of the old kopitiams and the new high rise buildings. I also like that the art scene is still quite new so I feel like people are still so excited about creating whereas in other countries, it’s a little saturated now. I’ve been working here as an actress, mostly doing commercial work and short films.

If you could be part of any TV show, which would you choose and why?
New Girl. Just because I love how quirky they are and how they’re all weird characters. I’d love to act in something that’s massively quirky.

My favourite roles:
I think it would be the ones which I get to act as bitchy characters. I’ve actually done that a number of times and I’ve also been cast as a murderer—I like playing against type! I did a web series in Los Angeles (LA) where I got to play crazy characters which was a lot of fun. I actually made and produced a short film right before I left LA and it was semi-autobiographical. Kind of like the craziest side of myself; a more dramatic, more highly-strung version of myself.

If you had to live alone for the rest of your life which place would you choose to live in and why?
I think it could be New York city just because I really like how dynamic it is. If there’s just one place where I could work as an actress, and live on my own, and find lots of different communities to be a part of, it’ll be New York. Otherwise, if it’s a place in Asia, maybe Tokyo, for kind of the same reason but also because Japan is very fascinating.

If you could say something to the whole wide world, what would you say and why?
This is kinda silly but I’m mixed, and if I’m thinking about talking to the whole world, it’d probably be about racial dynamics and how it’s so important. It’s such a great way to alleviate racism so maybe, make more mixed babies!
