Actually

We often see you wearing black—would you say that’s your favourite colour?
In terms of fashion, yes. It just blends well everywhere, and I prefer not to stand out as much as possible. I like being in the shadows (laughs). Outside of fashion, it used to be blue, but I’m leaning towards green now.

Why the change to green?
I like collecting plants, and I see a lot of greens in my plant collection. I started collecting plants during the Circuit Breaker last year; it was actually a CB habit (laughs).

If you had the chance to make a different decision in the past, what would it be?
I might change my choice of university. I had two options: either Parsons, or NYU Tisch School Of The Arts, and Tisch was for a completely different major—set design. So if I could change, maybe I’d pursue set design instead of interior design. I chose interior design at NAFA (Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts) in the end because I felt that it was the most similar major to set design, and I hoped to branch out from there eventually.

What’s something frivolous you’d love to collect if you had the money?
Definitely graphic novels. Hard cover ones especially. I love reading books but some days, you just want to relax your imagination and let the book give you the experience without thinking so much.

Something you’re currently saving up for is:
To perfect my kitchenware collection. I love to cook but living alone as a fresh grad forced me to keep my collection as minimal as possible, so I’m looking forward to expand that and start experimenting with the way I cook! Maybe some day I can start inviting more people over for dinner parties and serve food by yours truly.

If you could ask any artist to create the soundtrack of your life, who would it be?
Sigur Ros! Or maybe Florence and the Machine. I like artists who give their listeners a chance for interpretation. Just like my life, I like people to guess who I am instead of serving them “me” on a silver platter.
