If you want a pair of shoes that you don’t need to think twice about putting on, here’s a less common suggestion: boat shoes. They’re ruggedly unisex, and add a level of laid-back comfort to any look, be it a full suit or a casual shirt-and-chinos combination. We think these shoes look best when they remind us of the original Sperry Top-siders from 1935; leather, sewn moccasin-style, with a rubber sole. However, many variations have also popped up over the years, from bright colours to a range of fabric, including canvas, and even with an additional inch or two of wedge at the heel. Perfect for the office as an alternative to the more-formal brogues, boat shoes aren’t just for men either. Pair them with cuffed pants to really let them stand out.
