Checking In

Solid colours are safe and easy, but wear them too often and they can get boring fast. However, a little pattern, like a checkered print element, can instantly add an aspect of texture and visual interest to your outfit. Whether it comes in the form of tartan, gingham or plaid, neutral or bright, two-toned or multi-coloured, you can incorporate different forms of checks to create different kinds of looks. Make checks work in the office by picking pieces in darker, more work-appropriate hues like navy or forest green, or a fainter print for an alternative to pinstripes. For an even subtler way of incorporating checks into your ensemble, try it on an accessory, like a bag, clutch, or socks. The fun’s in experimenting, so if you’re feeling up to it, go for a large checked scarf, or brave checks-on-checks for a look that’s sure to be a head-turner.
