Tell us where you’re from and why you decided to visit Singapore.
I’m from Taiwan and I’m visiting Singapore for a holiday. It’s my first time in Singapore so I’ve been admiring the beautiful architecture and reuniting with some old friends who reside here.

What have you been enjoying about Singapore so far?
It’s a diverse city with many things to explore and many people from different backgrounds to interact with, most of whom are very friendly. The safety here is also similar to Taiwan, so I haven’t had much to worry about on this trip.

Share with us more about your home country, Taiwan.
Taiwan is a country of convenience and great food. Should you visit the country, you wouldn’t want to miss out on our famous bubble teas! There are also many things to do, especially in the outdoors—hiking and camping are all the rave now.

There are many bars to enjoy too, but the drinking culture is different to that of Singapore as drinking is usually only reserved for the weekends in Taiwan (laughs).

Why did you decide to join the architecture industry? Is this something you’ve always wanted to pursue?
Well, I wanted to be a designer when I was younger and stumbled upon a career in architecture. I love that the industry is so dynamic and no two projects are the same. Even after being in this industry for 10 years, I’m still learning something new everyday.

If I wasn’t in this field, it’s likely that I’d still be doing something creative, maybe work at a flower shop or in the fashion industry.

How do you like to spend your free time outside of work?
I love being out in nature, especially by the beach. I usually like to go for walks, hikes, or simply enjoy scenic views with some coffee.

Where do you wish to travel to next?
I’d love to visit Spain to see the Sagrada Família in Barcelona.
