& Other Stories

What do you do for work, and how did you first get into the industry?
I’m managing brand and PR for a designer lighting brand. So I’m mainly working on marketing activities and campaigns with the media and our retail partners within the Asia Pacific region. I’ve always been interested in architecture, home decor, and interior design, so it was apt when this opportunity with the brand came up!

What are your favourite and least favourite parts of your job?
I love the fact that I’m working for a brand that I’m proud of. I’m happy to always be involved in the creative process, and basically be exposed to inspirational designs daily as part of the job. It’s also nice to be working with people from different cultural backgrounds—I’m learning more about them and getting almost daily updates on what’s happening in their parts of the world.

As for my least favourite parts, it’s probably not a good idea to mention those (laughs).

Is there any habit that you’re hoping to pick up this year?
I’d like to be more active in the sports front, and to basically have a more active lifestyle again. I took a break from physical activities after a fall from my bike last year as I had some bad arm and wrist injuries, but I’m hoping to get back into them. I would like to return to playing tennis, and I’m thinking about doing stand-up paddling more often—I tried that last year and loved it!

How do you usually spend your weekends?
My weekends are usually pretty relaxing. I try to do home workouts and have kept to that since the lockdown period in 2020, and I check out new spots for brunch or for dinner and drinks with friends. I also watch some Netflix, tend to my plants, and go for walks in the park, which I find really therapeutic.

What’s one pet peeve that you have?
I’m very particular when it comes to cleanliness. I think I got that from my dad. Friends who know me will know how particular my dad is, and it runs in the family, I guess (laughs).

How would you describe your style?
It depends on the occasion. I’m usually dressed in smart casual-wear and sneakers are my go-to footwear. I’m also a fan of more masculine dressing, like shirts and pants, and I love fun prints too! Louder prints remind me of being on a holiday. I always try to mix casual and luxury brands together while playing around with colours, details, and fabrics. Having the right balance is always good. You’ll hardly catch me in something feminine like a sundress, or in dark colours like black.

What’s one thing you can’t leave the house without?
My accessories and mobile phone. As much as I hate to admit the latter, we really need it for everything we do these days, so I can’t leave home without it. As for accessories, I’ve always been playing around with them, even as a kid. I’d feel naked without them, so there isn’t a day I leave home without them!
